Founded in 1997 and manufacturing solar modules since 2004, Trina Solar is a vertically integrated PV manufacturer, producing everything from their own ingots, cells, to modules, using both mono and multicrystalline technologies. The control and efficiency achieved from this integrated value chain helps to continuously improve the production process as well as ensure high quality products to their end customers. Trina Solar has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since December 2006 and at the end of 2009, the company had a nameplate module capacity of 600MW annually and has megawatt projects deployed throughout Europe and China.

Independently tested on-site by the Australia Desert Knowledge Solar Centre in the Australian desert, Trina Solar panels produced the second best average output versus leading Japanese, Europeans and American brands, revealing the superior quality and performance delivered by a vertically integrated manufacturing process.

Most solar modules have high manufacturing tolerances of -5% on their power output. This means that just one module with a -5% tolerance in a string will result in the entire string’s output being negatively impacted. Trina Solar has “zero” low tolerance, this means that every module in your system will be at the rated power or greater. When you combine the Trina’s additional real world performance compared to a module that has a -5% tolerance, the Trina Solar module will produce more than 5% kWh annually. Essentially a 4.6 kW Trina Solar system will produce just as many annual kWh’s as a 4.8 kW or more typical solar module system.
